Every figure apart from the 6th Doctor and the Time Lord
is appearing on the AFT for the first time.
Time Lord figure is used twice, the second time his
robes have been tweaked in photoshop.
The third Doctor and Delgado Master appear in a brief
cameo. This kind of multi Doctor referencing is easy now
we have all the Doctors in figure form but I'll try and
keep it to a minimum and only where the plot demands it.
This story was dreamed up very quickly
and covered two requirements.
The first and main one was to use the
new figure of Peri, the first (hopefully of many)
classic companion to be released. As a sign of support
for this highly exciting release, I wanted to get her
into a story ASAP.
The other requirement was as a first
chapter to a possible event arc for the AFT's tenth
anniversary season: the war between the Daleks and
Cybermen, something I've been considering for many
A seventh Doctor story (currently at the
scripting stage) shows the Cybermen during the ongoing
battle and an upcoming eighth Doctor adventure makes
reference to the war between the titans of the
So should I do a Daleks v Cybermen arc?
Let me know what you think.
EDIT: Of course everyone LOVED the idea
of Daleks V Cybermen and it became the main event on the
AFT in 2013. You can start reading it here:
The entire episode was shot on 10th
January 2011 starting with the space station interiors,
then the TARDIS followed by the green screen elements
(all the Disney scenes) and finishing on the alien
planet showing the Daleks and Cybermen facing off.
The sets were pieced together from
stock scenery and computer banks.
The four pages were edited on 20th
January with the lettering added on the 21st.
The Time Lord space station is the same
one I created for Grey Matter
with a colour tweak.
Some of the dialogue especially on page
three was changed and added to during the lettering
process. At this point the Master's Hoix henchman was
given his name Ungar. The original title was The
Vault of Secrets until I remembered that had been a
Sarah Jane Adventures story. It changed to The Vault
of Time for the production and became Timelocked
on the 20th January.
As requested by Matt (docandk9) the
final frame is available as wallpaper here.
Like most of the 6th Doctor/ Peri
adventures on TV, Timelocked is deeply entrenched in the
show's lore. The Time Lords are ever present. The
Master, the Daleks and the Cybermen feature and there's
even reference to an earlier unseen adventure. It's so
JNT it hurts.
I've decided to set this story after
Revelation of the Daleks. The Doctor and Peri have
finally had the holiday they spent much of season 22
looking for. I haven't decided when the third Doctor/
Master adventure occurs.
